The ACLU will ONLY respond to written letters. Writers should explain the situation, what administrative action was requested and/or taken, and what kind of assistance the writer requests. The ACLU may provide services by asking for a change in conditions of confinement or medication, etc., and on occasion will take a case if it may bring about institutional change. They do not handle criminal work regarding the purpose for incarceration.
