counseling services for rape and incest survivors and their families and
friends, a companion program to accompany survivors to hospitals, courts
and police proceedings, low-cost self-defense classes, a growing library,
training for professionals working with survivors and a wide array of
community education programs including "Staying Safe" classes for children
of all ages within the D.C. public school system.

the humane treatment and the dignity of all persons convicted or charged
with a criminal offense of the District of Columbia law housed in prisons,
jails or community corrections programs, to assist their family members
with prison related issues, and to promote support programs to meet the
needs of the whole person returning from prison or sentenced to community
